Stressless is a Norwegian furniture brand with more than 50 years of history in recliner design. The brand was founded by Jens Ekornes in 1934, in the small coastal community of Sykkylven on the west coast of Norway, where the main factory still stands today. From the beginning, the guiding principle was simple: build furniture that lasts. 

The first Stressless recliner launched in 1971. It was immediately unlike anything else on the market and went on to become one of the best-selling chair designs in the world. Reynolds has stocked Stressless for many years, and it remains one of the most requested brands in our showroom.

Every Stressless piece is built on a foundation of unmatched durability. A proprietary spring system and moulded foam components are anchored by a single continuous steel rod, cold-bent for strength. This innovative one-piece design ensures long-lasting support and reliability. 

The result is a chair that supports your body however you sit, not just when you're fully reclined.

PATENTED TECHNOLOGY

Stressless chairs include several patented systems that set them apart from standard recliners:

The Glide System - reads your body's weight and shape to adjust, making reclining natural and adaptive rather than locking you into preset positions. 

The Plus System - simultaneously aligns lower back support with the headrest, so you are correctly supported whether sitting upright or fully reclined. 

BalanceAdapt - enhances relaxation with a gentle rocking motion that adjusts naturally to your movements, delivering a feeling of weightless comfort. 

LegComfort Power - an electric integrated footrest, offering a higher level of functionality at the touch of a button. 

Available in multiple sizes, so the chair fits your body rather than asking your body to fit the chair.

Stressless produces recliners, sofas, and dining chairs. All share the same core technology and the same approach to comfort.

• Recliners and chairs - the original Stressless product, available in classic and contemporary styles with a choice of base, size, and upholstery
• Sofas - the same ergonomic support extended to two and three seater configurations
• Dining - expertly designed dining chairs that work with your body, with a flexible seat and back that follow your movements and offer a variety of positions for total comfort 

Upholstery options include a wide range of premium leathers and fabrics. Bases vary from the classic wooden hourglass to contemporary chrome and steel options.

BUILT TO LAST

Stressless aims to become the world's most sustainable furniture maker. Thanks partly to the use of hydropower, greenhouse emissions reduce year on year, and the factory currently recycles 80 percent of its waste. 

The mechanical functions and internal framework of every Stressless recliner and sofa are guaranteed for 10 years from the date of delivery.

This is furniture designed to be kept.
